Why is it that they only have pretty people in magazines, aren't we all beautiful anyways?

What a drama to make these castings, competing with hundreds, hours of making hair and make up just to take a picture. Anyone can be beautiful like the magazine covers, it's just that not many of us have a personal make up artist or something, why not showing people's natural beauty???

Yeah, this applies to R%26amp;S category because I said so and because yes, God gave us beauty to all of us, some beauties are weirder or "more special" than others but no1 is ugly.

Unfortunately that is the way it is. I modeled for a very short time. I was unwilling to compromise my principles when it came to what "the business" expected of me. I wasn't about to let someone tell me how to cut my hair or what to wear 24/7 or who my friends were, etc. That's how it is. I was told that I could not be seen in public with my dearest friend who happened to be a little overweight at the time if I wanted "to make it in this business". I chose to leave "the business" and now, that friend is thinner than I am. And I still love her and we are still VERY close.

Unfortunatley, magazines would lose sales if they put ugly people in it because it is not appleling to america

Get over it- pretty sells. Ugly repells.

Just watched a movie (Oh Baby) with Kelli Martin, where regular people were hired for the parts. Kelli plays a mystery writer, and she isn't model thin, either.

No, thats just what we tell you to make you feel better.

It's been a few years since I checked, but I seem to remember that they have a special section in the adult bookstores full of magazines full of women who are all sorts of ugly.

Advertising dollars are spent to reach and attract the largest number of persons so as to generate more sales.

People like to identify with the "beautiful" models, wishing and hoping that they looked as those persons appear to look.

Welcome to capitalism!

What makes a person truly beautiful is their self image, how they relate to and treat others and the love that they give to life.

Simply because you think something belongs in a particular section does not necessarily make it so.

There honestly appears to be no "god" to give anything to anyone.

So persons are unattractive.

Welcome to reality.

May it all be well with you.

God loves the beauty of a beautiful heart! He is the only one who can see our hearts! Sometimes the most beautiful heart is put into a very plain body! God does not judge us by our outside appearance, but He looks into the heart!

This world is very shallow and rates people according to appearance. This is a sad truth.

That being said, true beauty is defined by a person's actions, not apearance. We all have our beautiful and ugly moments.

Jack, if anyone ever insults again . . . direct them to this question.

Sex sells. Idealism sells. Distraction sells. I can't blame magazines for tapping into this at all. They exist to make money, and the majority of people gobble it up.

Now, I don't read women's magazines because they annoy the crap out of me. Imagine my irritation when someone anonymously subscribed me to Glamour magazine. I don't even bother opening it. I just send it to a former coworker.

And as for people actually looking like that . . . . they do. I was just at the new and trendy mall in my home city, and there are gaggles of young girls who have what society often considers perfect bodies, perfect clothes, perfect make up, etc. I shake my head every time a 16 year old with huge breasts stuffed into a skimpy top walks by me.

Sadly, last night, that teenager happened to be my 15 year old cousin and her 21 year old boyfriend . . . of whom her mother and father approve.

But that's another story . . .
